Carbon Monoxide Testing

Dont put your family at risk. Get your heater checked for Carbon Monoxide.

Picture
Carbon monoxide is a colourless , odorless gas which is less dense than air, making it very difficult to detect without the proper equipment.

Carbon monoxide is a product from carbon containing compounds which can occur when there is not enough oxygen to complete combustion of carbon dioxide (CO2)

Carbon monoxide is a dangerous and poisonous gas. We can provide testing to ensure this gas is not present during operation.

Many people are unaware that it is not only gas heating systems which can produce this deadly gas. Coal fires and other fossil fuels can also result in producing carbon monoxide.

Contact JME Plumbing today to get your heater checked for carbon monoxide.

Warning signs that carbon monoxide may be present in your home

  1. Gas flames burn yellow or orange instead of blue
  2. The coal fire may be difficult to light, or seems to burn slowly
  3. If you feel the following symptoms for no reason:
  • Headaches
  • Tiredness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Being confused or dizzy
  • Feeling nauseous
  • Chest pains

Ways to prevent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

  1. Get your heating appliances checked regularly by a professional. We suggest testing once a year at the start of every winter season.
  2. Make sure the room is well ventilated when the appliance is running.
  3. Make sure all chimneys and flues are cleaned regularly by a professional sweep.
  4. Keep an eye on the colour of the flame  in gas appliances. If it starts to burn yellow or orange instead of blue, turn the appliance off immediately and call a professional to test for carbon monoxide.
